Establishing a New Defense with an Effective Dime Pass Rushby: Bob BensonDefensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach, Colorado School of Mines © More from this issue At the Colorado School of Mines, our defensive staffs have run the same 3-4 pressure defense since 1988 and have made the necessary changes and adjustments to have success against constantly evolving offensive schemes. During my tenure as the Head Coach at Georgetown University, we had some successful defenses including the #1 I-AA defense in the nation in 1995 and 1996, as well as one of the top 25 defenses in 2005. During my two years at Towson University, we were able to reduce the defensive points per game by 13 from the previous season in 2006 and finished the 2007 season ranked in the top three of most defensive categories in the very rigorous Colonial Athletic Association.
