Ricky Woods, coach of Mississippi’s 5A state champion South Panola, confers with the state’s Player of the Year, Derek Pegues. At 5-10, 190-pounds, Pegues – who has 4.4 speed on the field and a 2.9 GPA in the classroom – led South Panola to back-to-back 15-0 seasons and Class 5A state championships. Despite rushing for 1,659 yards as South Panola’s QB in 2004, Pegues is looking to play corner in college.
