From 1964 to 1988, the name Dooley was synonymous with Georgia football. Despite flirtations with other schools, most notably his alma mater Auburn in the 70's, Dooley remained top Dawg for 25 seasons and led UGA to 201 victories. During his career, he won 6 conference titles and numerous coach of the year awards. Along with his brother Bill, the head coach at North Carolina (1967-77) and Virginia Tech (1978-86), the Dooleys were one of the most successful brother acts in the history of the game. Since his retirement from the sideline, Dooley has served as the athletic director at Georgia overseeing one of the finest overall athletic departments in the SEC and nation.
